Cropping is one of the few PDF edits that is genuinely spatial — "cut off this margin" or "remove that scanner shadow along the edge" is something you point at, not a number you type. So this tool works the way cropping a photo does: drag a box over a real preview of the page, resize it from the corners, move it by dragging inside it, and everything outside it is gone from the result.

The crop is stored as a proportion of the page rather than a fixed measurement, so applying it to every page in a document still makes sense even when pages are not all the same size — a common situation in scanned documents and mixed-orientation reports.

Nothing is uploaded. What does cropping a PDF actually do? +

It changes the visible and printable area of each page to the box you drew, by setting the page's MediaBox and CropBox. Content outside that box is no longer shown or printed. It is a real, permanent crop — not a mask or an overlay — so opening the result in any other PDF viewer shows the cropped page, not the original.

Can I crop only some pages and leave others untouched? +

Yes. Switch "Apply to" from All pages to Page range and type something like 1-3, 7. Only those pages are cropped; the rest of the document keeps its original size.

Does the crop box work on pages of different sizes? +

Yes. The box you drag is stored as a proportion of the page, not a fixed measurement, so applying it to all pages crops each one by the same relative amount even if a document mixes portrait and landscape pages or different paper sizes.

Will cropping reduce the file size? +

A little, usually. Cropping does not delete content outside the box — the underlying text and images are still there, just outside the visible area — so the reduction is modest, not dramatic. If file size is the goal rather than a specific crop, a PDF compressor is the more direct tool.

Can I use this to remove scanned page edges or shadows? +

Is the crop reversible? +
