How do I crop an image for free? +

Open the image above, drag the crop box over the area you want to keep, and press Crop image. There is no account, no file limit and no watermark — the image is never uploaded, and cropping happens entirely in your browser.

How do I crop an image to a perfect square? +

Choose the 1:1 Square aspect ratio. The crop box locks to a square and stays square while you drag it around or resize it, so you cannot accidentally end up slightly off. If you also need a specific pixel size, type it into the Output size fields — or use the Passport photo preset, which sets a 600 × 600 square in one click.

Does cropping reduce image quality? +

Cropping itself does not — it cuts pixels out of the original at full resolution, so what remains is exactly as sharp as it was. Quality is only affected by the output format and setting: JPG and WebP are lossy, so the Quality control matters there. Set it to Maximum for a visually lossless result, or choose PNG for true lossless output.

Can I crop to an exact pixel size like 1080 × 1080? +

Yes. Type the width and height into the Output size fields and the cropped region is scaled to exactly that. Fill in just one and the other follows the crop's shape automatically. The ready-made presets do both at once — Instagram post sets a 1:1 crop at 1080 × 1080, YouTube thumbnail sets 16:9 at 1280 × 720.

What are the ready-made sizes for? +

They cover the platforms with strict dimension requirements: Instagram post and story, Facebook cover, X/Twitter header, LinkedIn banner, YouTube thumbnail and passport photo. Each one sets both the crop shape and the exact pixel output, so the result is accepted without the platform re-cropping or upscaling it.

Can I rotate or flip the image while cropping? +

Yes. Rotate left or right in 90° steps, and flip horizontally or vertically. Rotation is applied after the crop, so a quarter turn swaps the output width and height — the tool shows you the resulting dimensions before you export.

What happens to transparency when I crop a PNG? +

Choose PNG as the output format and transparency is preserved exactly. If you choose JPG, which has no alpha channel, transparent areas are filled with the background colour — you can set that colour yourself rather than being stuck with white.

Are my images uploaded anywhere? +

No. The image is read, cropped and re-encoded entirely inside your browser. Nothing is transmitted. That makes it safe for anything you would not upload to an unknown server — ID photos, private documents, screenshots containing personal details. Once the page has loaded it works offline.

Is there a file size limit? +

No fixed limit. The crop is taken from the image at its full resolution, so the practical ceiling is your device's memory on very large photos rather than a rule imposed by the tool.

Will there be a watermark on the cropped image? +

No. The output is your image with the crop applied, nothing added. There is no watermark, no badge, and no paid tier that removes one.
